“Cyberpunk 2077": Becoming One Of The Best Open World Experiences In Gaming History
In 2022 technology is developing daily and people are discovering different methods and outlets to accumulate money. Considering how much the world has evolved over the years, how much would the world landscape change in 2077? Since time machines do not exist, we will not have that answer for another fifty-five years. However, CD Projekt Red has created a futuristic project called Cyberpunk 2077 that allows gamers direct insight into the nightlife of California in 2077.
Enter 2077 in Night City: cars can operate through the air and people can purchase and have a specialist (ripper doc) install cybernetic modifications onto their bodies to enhance their physical attributes. Why are these modifications necessary? The reason being is most civilians, street thugs, authorities, and corporate members possess them to thrive in the city and for protection. They are available for the arms, legs, skeleton, circulatory, ocular, and nervous systems.
Gorilla Arms, Mantis Blades, or a Projectile Launch System can be installed into the arms giving the user the power of a silverback gorilla in each hand or the ability to extract blades like a praying mantis. Also, the user can implant projectile rocket launchers into their arms with military weapon destructive force. Furthermore, users can dramatically improve their vertical leap with reinforced tendons or incorporate a stealth walking ability with lynx paws. Bionic Lungs and micro rotors improve the body’s skeleton and increase stamina and attack speeds. Also, the character can improve their overall health and durability with biomonitors, bio-plastic blood vessels, or other items presented in the game. Finally, equipping Kiroshi Optics can help players discover background information on people they meet in Night City and provide infiltration and hacking abilities. Items to the nervous system like the synaptic accelerator and reflex tuner help evasion skills and the ability to slow down time during combat. The features create a dynamic experience, and Cyberpunk 2077 offers gamers much more with the open-world adventure CD Projekt Red has brought to the forefront.
On December 10th, 2020, the highly anticipated game was released on all major gaming platforms (PC, PlayStation 4/5, XBOX One, series X/S) and had expectations from pundits and game reviewers to revolutionize open-world gaming with the futuristic project set in 2077. Unfortunately, the game failed miserably at launch because of performance issues persisting throughout the game. Constant glitches dampened the allure and scintillating experience the game intended to deliver, and it left the developers reeling as negative feedback and a loss of revenue mounted. Although things looked bleak initially, the CD Projekt Red developers worked diligently on rectifying performance issues with game patches and found a solution with the latest 1.6 installment. The installment fixed the problems, and Cyberpunk 2077 reached an apex in gameplay.
To help promote Cyberpunk 2077, Netflix released an anime based on the game called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The anime was critically acclaimed by various outlets like IMDb, My Anime List, and Rotten Tomatoes, with ratings like 8.4/10, 8.7/10, and 10/10. Ultimately, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a resurgence and has become one of the best games for next-generation consoles with the success of Edgerunners and vast internal improvements to the game.
At the beginning of the game, you must choose from three-character storyline paths: The life of a Street Kid, a Nomad, or a member of the City Corporate Elite (Corpo).
Selecting Street Kid immerses you directly into the streets of Night City California, where the character attempts to rise from poverty to the top. The path of the Nomad starts the player on the road of the Badlands, living the life of obscurity before traveling to Night City to reach supremacy. The role of the City Corporate Elite starts with the player as a corporate member in the game traversing around Night City and the Badlands.
After selecting the most desired character path, players are given the alias V and further instructed to create a character with any ethnicity and gender (the gender impacts potential intimate relationships and storylines in the game). Finally, you receive seven attribute points to spread between categories that affect your fighting method and ability. The segments are Reflexes, Body, Technical Ability, Intelligence, and Cool.
Reflexes: Focuses on player maneuverability and the character’s proficiency using handguns, assault rifles, and blades.
Body/Core: Demonstrates the amount of health and durability a player has. Also, stamina and hand-to-hand combat ability can improve by the level of the body category.
Technical Ability/Technique: Allows the player to craft legendary weapons with rare items found throughout the vast world of Night City.
Intelligence: Improves hacking and infiltration abilities. In the Cyberpunk world, players can enhance their ocular system with mechanisms only available with a high intelligence rating. A high rating can allow you to unlock doors, hack security cameras, and disable assailant weapons during combat.
Cool/ Composure: This category affects the character’s composure under pressure and the ability to perform undetectable stealth techniques to complete missions without alerting foes. Players can utilize stealth to operate undetected or perform Rambo tactics in front of the enemy’s eye.
After filling out the attributes and completing the infrastructure of your character, the adventures in Night City begin, and how you maneuver your character will decide if you become a legend in the afterlife. Cyberpunk 2077 is a video game that provides many different storylines based on your decisions throughout the main storyline. Furthermore, Cyberpunk 2077 allows players to pursue romantic relationships and buy properties/vehicles around the city. Also, you can help law enforcement and act as a street hero by physically stopping people who have lost control of themselves due to cyber psychosis. Cyber psychosis is a disorder that affects people who have installed too many mechanical modifications onto their bodies. Finally, pursuing supremacy in boxing against fighters around Night City. Throughout Cyberpunk 2077, there are characters with mechanical enhancements that you must defeat using basic boxing techniques (Jab, Parry, Power Punch, CounterPunch) to become the best boxer in the area.
Despite the initial setback, Cyberpunk 2077 allows players to experience how life could turn out in 2077. The likelihood of hovering cars and mechanical body enhancements seems impossible, but it becomes a reality in the Cyberpunk world. CD Projekt Red creates an alternative universe with their representation of life in 2077, and each moment in Night City is a thrilling experience.
